OpenAI Enters Hardware, Samsung Doubles Down on AI

OpenAI’s first device, Samsung’s AI phone, and More.

Hey folks,

It’s Monday, so let’s quickly catch up on the some of the biggest and most interesting AI updates from the past few days.

OpenAI’s first hardware product may be AI-powered earbuds, not a wearable pin or screenless companion as previously rumoured. According to a report from Chinese platform Weibo, the device could be called “Dime” and run directly on OpenAI’s own AI models.

If true, this would mark OpenAI’s entry into personal hardware. AI earbuds could allow users to interact with AI continuously through voice, without needing to open an app or look at a screen.

Samsung has opened pre-reservations for its upcoming Galaxy S series, positioning it as its next major AI-focused smartphone. The devices will be officially announced at the Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25 in San Francisco.

Tthe new Galaxy S lineup is expected to focus on deeper AI integration across the system. Instead of standalone features, the company appears to be embedding AI directly into everyday phone interactions.

Peter Steinberger, founder of OpenClaw, is joining OpenAI to help build its next generation of personal AI agents.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said OpenClaw will continue as an open-source foundation project with OpenAI’s support. The move signals OpenAI’s growing focus on AI agents that can perform tasks autonomously on behalf of users.

That’s it for today’s AI News roundup.
