Apple’s Camera Upgrade, Smarter AI Images, and Solar Power From Space
iPhone 18 Pro Max changes, ChatGPT’s smarter image generator, and Meta’s new energy bet.

Hey folks,
It’s Monday, so let’s quickly catch up on the some of the biggest and most interesting AI updates from the past few days.
Apple may make the iPhone 18 Pro Max slightly thicker, according to new dummy unit leaks. The change is reportedly linked to a larger camera module and bigger lenses.
The thicker design could allow improved camera hardware, suggesting Apple is prioritising imaging performance over slimness. The leaks also hint at a possible “Ultra” foldable model being tested alongside the Pro lineup.
OpenAI has rolled out ChatGPT Images 2.0, an upgraded image generation system powered by its new GPT Image 2 model.
The biggest addition is web-powered reasoning. The system can now search the web for context, create multiple consistent images from one prompt, and better preserve style, characters, and text. It also supports up to eight images at once and resolutions up to 2K.
Meta has signed a deal with startup Overview Energy to explore a futuristic energy source: collecting solar power in space and beaming it back to Earth.
The idea is to power AI data centres at night without relying on batteries or traditional grids. With AI compute demand growing rapidly, energy infrastructure is becoming just as important as model performance.
That’s it for today’s AI News roundup.
